Eco-Choice Africa was established in 2001 as Africa's first consumer-goods focused ecolabel. Our aim is to provide consumers with a ready source of independently certified environmentally responsible products and services.

Our label complies with a Type 1 Ecolabel - as defined by ISO 14024:2018, and represents the only private initiative of its kind on the African continent.

With growing awareness of the environmental impacts of consumer goods - and clear preference for independently certified products, Eco-Choice Africa offers consumers and manufacturers a valuable opportunity to do the 'right thing'.

What drives us?

We are driven by a commitment to making a difference to the lives of ordinary people by changing the way in which manufactured products and certain services are developed, used and disposed-of.

How do we achieve this?

ECA achieves its Mission through the application, review and Licencing of products and services against internationally recognised standards of environmental, social and financial compliance.

Our objectives?

By recognising environmentally responsible products and services, we aim to reduce global demand for natural resources; stop greenwashing by manufacturers and to minimise risks posed to our communities and the environment in general.

The proliferation of 'green' labels on consumer goods has led to confusion by consumers, and to an increase in unfounded claims by manufacturers and retailers about their products and services in an effort to attract your support and buying power.

Eco-Choice Africa aims to offer a reliable, respected and internationally competitive ecolabel of environmentally responsible products and services that have been independently tested to verify these claims. Our standards have been benchmarked against the best and latest international best practice to ensure that our label meets the demanding standards of our environment and environmentally-aware consumer expectations.
